Missing 13-Year-Old Girl Found Before Report Filed

The mother of a 13-year-old Midlothian girl reported her missing Monday, but police found her shortly after.

A 13-year-old Hille Middle School student who was reported missing by her mom Monday morning was back home before the paperwork was even filed, according to police.

“The girl has been located. She’s back and everything is fine” said Midlothian police Lt. Harold Kaufman.

Kyara Rush, 13, of Midlothian, was reported missing by her mother to police early Monday morning. An email from Margaret Longo, superintendent for Forest Ridge Elementary School District 142, was sent out, saying an Amber Alert had been filed for the teen. No Amber Alert had been filed, Kaufman said.

In fact, police hadn’t even finished putting the report into the computer system by the time the girl was found later in the day on Monday, May 20.

Kaufman declined to released specifics about the case because of the age of the girl involved.
