Trench Coat Vandal Trashes Middle School

A hoodlum only described by police as a white male and wearing a trench coat was seen tearing up Arbor Park school on Oct. 16.

A vandal wearing a trench coat damaged plants and threw a metal trash can through a window at an Oak Forest middle school, police said.

Security footage recorded at Arbor Park Middle School, 17301 Central Ave., shows a white male vandalizing school property in the early morning of Oct. 16, police said.

No one has been arrested in connection with the incident, police said. Investigators said the man recorded in the video at about 4:10 a.m. is suspected in other criminal damage incidents at nearby houses.

An officer arrived at about 5 a.m. and found the shattered school window, along with emptied potted plants, an American flag removed from the pole and small trees pulled out of the ground, police said. A computer monitor had been placed inside the trash can.

A large portion of the damage, which was originally discovered by one of the school's teachers, was concentrated to the front of the building, police said.
