Registration Now Open for Oak Forest Christmas Parade

Don't miss out on this year's tree lighting and Christmas parade, scheduled for Dec. 14.

Mark your calendar, Santa Claus is comin' to town—Dec. 14, to be exact.

Oak Forest residents are invited to join Mayor Hank Kuspa and Santa Claus as they ring in the holiday season at the annual tree lighting ceremony and parade on Saturday, December 14. Registration is now open for anyone wishing to participate in the parade. Find out how to register through the city's website. 

The parade kicks off at Oak Forest High School at 11 a.m. and will proceed down Central Avenue to City Hall where the tree lighting ceremony will take place.

The top three trees and three honorable mentions from the trim-a-tree contest will be announced after the tree lighting.

Afterward, everyone is invited to Fire Station 1 to visit with Santa and enjoy light refreshments.

Guests are asked to donate an unwrapped toy to the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation, which provides comfort and distraction to children undergoing cancer treatment. For information, call City Hall at 708-687-4050.

Oak Forest residents who bought an extra bag of Halloween candy, GiGi's Playhouse would be happy to take it off your hands.

GiGi's welcomes donations of any candy not containing nuts for its Halloween party Sunday, Oct. 27, from 2 to 4 p.m. 

Anyone willing can drop candy off at the playhouse prior to Sunday, so the staff can plan how much extra to purchase. The house is located at 5400 W. 159th St., near the rear of the building.
