The Oak Forest Police Department, in conjunction with the State's “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket,” programs, is launching a crackdown on impaired driving and seat belt violations Aug. 17 through Sept. 3. The program will focus on intensified scrutiny of offenses during overnight hours—especially midnight to 3 a.m.—which is the deadliest time on Illinois roadways, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. “The numbers do not lie. You know the saying—"Click it, or ticket." Oak Forest Police will be checking to be sure drivers abide by the law this St. Patrick's Day weekend, through March 20. The department will conduct a citywide seat belt enforcement campaign, which began March 12. “This enforcement campaign is one of six that the Oak Forest Police Department will participate in this year,” said Deputy Police Chief Dominic D’Ambrosio. “Stationary occupant restraint zones along with mobile saturation patrols will be utilized to check for occupants of vehicles not wearing their safety belts.” The St. Patrick’s Day campaign is the third Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program, which is funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
