Power Up for Monday's Meeting on Electrical Aggregation

Want more information on electrical aggregation before you vote March 20? Head to City Hall Monday, at 7 p.m.

With a decision to put a referendum for electrical aggregation on the March 20 ballot, voters will determine if bundling Oak Forest's electrical supply is the best move for the city. I didn't state any amount of money that would be saved in my original comment. I think I was very misquoted. I did say that New Lenox was paid $75,000.00 from the company they chose, and returned it to the citizens, and was wondering what Oak Forest would do with any monies they would make from the aggregation. City Council Puts Power to Lower Electricity Cost into Voters' Hands

Aldermen voted a referendum to aggregate electricity onto the March 2012 ballot, but they'll need voter approval to move forward with the plan.

Oak Forest City Council members showed their support of electric aggregation Tuesday, Dec. 20, now it's up to the voters to show theirs on March 20, 2012. Aldermen and Mayor Hank Kuspa voted the referendum onto the ballot during Tuesday's council meeting. The proposed referendum, initially discussed by the council Dec. 13, will ask residents for approval to aggregate, or bundle, the city’s electric services to help lower electricity rates for residents and small businesses in Oak Forest. Public Works Director Troy Ishler explained that the City of Oak Forest has already aggregated its electric for all of the city’s buildings and work stations the past four years.
