SUNDAY, MARCH 17 A 22-year-old Oak Forest woman said someone stole her phone and digital camera during a birthday party at her boyfriend’s home. A Kodak camera worth $200, a Blackberry Curve 9310 worth $115 and several credit and ID cards were taken, along with $85 in cash. She told police she believed a friend and family of a friend who came to the party might be responsible. Nathan E. Boulden, 63, of the 15700 block of Lake in Indiana, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and disobeying a traffic control device, according to a report. FRIDAY, MARCH 15 Bradley A. Bartkus, 19, of the 8700 block of Cashel Lane in Tinley Park, was cited for underage drinking and improper lighting, according to a report. Police reported seeing several passengers in a Cadillac Deville not wearing seat belts at about 12:06 a.m. near the intersection of 159th Street and Central Avenue. During a traffic stop, an officer could smell an odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle. After taking field sobriety tests, Bartkus was arrested and taken to Oak Forest Police Department. He also took a breath test while at the station. Two juveniles who were in the Cadillac were cited for underage consumption and not wearing a seat belt. TUESDAY, March 12 Amanda Marie Heller, 26, of the 5400 block of Fairway Drive in Crestwood, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a report. Heller was stopped by police after she made a lane violation. A background search turned up a warrant from the Robbins Police Department. She was taken into custody and transported to Robbins. More than $3,000 in tools were reported stolen from a trailer parked in the 15800 block of Terrace Drive, according to a report. The trailer was attached to a 2004 F250 pickup. A man and a woman tried to make off with almost $2,000 worth of energy drinks and over-the-counter drugs from the drug store, Oak Forest police report. And they would've gotten away with it, too, if it wasn't for a meddling gift bag.
Two thieves nearly got away with about $2,000 worth of over-the-counter medication and energy drinks March 4, according to an Oak Forest police report. An employee at CVS, 15840 Cicero Ave., told police a man and a woman entered at about 6:10 p.m. and tried to walk out with merchandise they didn't pay for, according to the report. The employee recognized the woman from a previous theft incident and became concerned, the report stated. A birthday gift bag the thieves were carrying split open as they tried to leave, spilling medicine and energy drinks onto the floor. SATURDAY, MARCH 9 A 27-year-old Orland Hills man was attacked by three men at about 9:10 p.m. in Oak Forest, according to a report. The man said he was near the bus stop at 159th Street and LeClaire, walking home, when he was attacked and punched several times by the men. He was taken to South Suburban Hospital for treatment. No suspects were found. FRIDAY, MARCH 8 Judge B. Phinnesee, Jr., 24, of the 3000 block of Sherwood Avenue in Markham, was charged with retail theft, according to a report. TUESDAY, MARCH 5 Rory M. Scanlan, 19, of the 15600 block of S. New England Avenue, was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of cannabis, following an incident in the 15200 block of Linden Drive. Police were called to the scene by a resident, who reported a suspicious vehicle parked on the block. Officer arrived and began speaking with Scanlan, immediately smelling a strong odor of burnt cannabis when Scanlan rolled down his window, according to the report. Officers asked Scanlan to get out of the car and placed him in handcuffs, so they could safely search the car. The Bremen Township Building, 15350 Oak Park Avenue, was robbed over the weekend of March 1-4. The burglar(s) made off with approximately $2,500 in cash and left the service window shattered.
Oak Forest police are investigating a robbery of the Bremen Township building, 15350 Oak Park Avenue, after approximately $2,500 was taken sometime between March 1 to 4. An employee reported the robbery around 7:30 a.m. March 4. The man told police that he had noted the main, south door was ajar and when he went inside that the service counter window was shattered. Police investigated the building and did not find a suspect. Officers were able to determine that someone forced open the door and threw a landscaping brick through the service window, shattering it. SATURDAY, March 2 Police were called to a residence in the 5800 block of Corey Lane, after a resident reported somebody attempted to set fire to her car. The woman told police this was a second attempt at damaging her car. Officers noted a wooden spoon, wrapped in a rag, sticking out of the car's gas pipe, with scorch marks on the rag. The victim told officers that previously, an unknown suspect did something similar to her other car, causing $2,000 worth of damage. The victim said she did not know anyone who would wish to harm her or her cars. WEDNESDAY, FEB. 27 Police were called to a home in the 15700 block of Jon Road, after a victim reported a delayed theft at her residence. A woman told police that while packing for a trip she noticed a pair of shoes and a business suit missing from her closet. She told officers that her son, who currently is living with the victim, has a history of drug problems and has stolen from her in the past. The victim said she went to Plato's Closet in Orland Park and found her shoes and suit, and employees at the store identified her son as the person who sold the items. FRIDAY, FEB. 23 Robert J. Stephens, 57, of the 9000 block of W. 140th Street, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, BAC great than .08, failure to reduce speed, improper lane usage and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, after a witness reported a car in a small pond off 151st and Oak Park Avenue. Stephens was wet from the knees down, with mud on his hands and face. Stephens told officers the last thing he remembered was passing Forestview before realizing he drove into a pond, according to the report.
