Last Chance to Donate to Toys for Tots

The deadline for donating to Toys for Tots is quickly approaching in Oak Forest, on Saturday, Dec. 15.

As Christmas inches closer, Oak Forest residents have a few more chances to share their holiday spirit before time runs out. At Oak Forest City Hall, the Oak Forest Police Department has organized a Toys For Tots toy drive, which kicked off Wednesday, Oct. 9, and is currently collecting small, unwrapped toys for those in need. The final day to donate to Toys for Tots is Saturday, Dec. 15.  To donate to the Toys for Tots toy drive, stop by city hall during regular business hours, or if after hours, toys can be dropped off at the Oak Forest Police Department. Touched by An Angel: Save Energy & Save a Kid, Too

Bill Steinhauser's annual Toys for Tots drive and semi-annual push for the CHARGE Foundation have come to be recognized as two ways of doing business at his family's local hardware store.

Helping customers find ways to save on energy costs is a priority for Bill Steinhauser at this time of the year. So is helping those in need. Steinhauser, co-owner of Park ACE Hardware, 16725 Oak Park Ave., Tinley Park, collects toys as part of the Toys for Tots program. “We’re just trying to help kids in need in the Southwest Chicago area, collecting toys—unopened, unwrapped toys,” he said. “Bring them here. We’ve got a drop-off box right in the front of the store. And help a kid out this Christmas.” Toys will be picked up by Toys for Tots officials on Dec. 20 and distributed on time for the holidays. Residents Asked to Pitch in with Toys For Tots Program

Oak Forest Police are hosting a Toys for Tots program from now until Dec. 15 at Oak Forest City Hall. A collection bin for toys can be found just outside the city council room.

As the holiday season creeps closer, the Oak Forest Police Department is gearing up to help out children in need with its Toys for Tots program. The program, which kicked off Oct. 9 in Oak Forest and will run until Dec. 15, is designed to bring a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters, inspiring them that to become responsible, productive, patriotic citizens, according to the program's website. During the months of October, November and through Dec. 15, a toy collection bin will be set up at the Oak Forest City Hall, 15440 S. Central Ave., where unwrapped toys can be placed for distribution. The program will not distribute toys that look like realistic weapons and food items.
