Residents may have already received mailings concerning water service line protection policies. But local government officials warn residents to be careful before buying in.
As the temperatures dip below freezing, Southland residents can expect a number of mailings concerning water service line protection plans, and local municipalities are encouraging residents to educate themselves before taking the plunge on buying into a plan. Tinley Park and Oak Forest both recently warned residents that neither municipality is connected, or sponsoring, the service. “There is no partnership between these companies and the Village of Tinley Park,” Tinley Park officials stated in a relase. “The Village neither recommends nor discourages purchase of this private insurance.” Oak Forest Alderman Chuck Toland also encouraged residents to be wary of mailings, and any other contact, that seeks out residents for potential work on …

If you plan to drink on New Year's Eve, we hope you'll plan not to drive, and instead use public transportation, cabs, or trains to arrive back home to your final destination, safe and sound.
Patch wants to be sure you make it home safe and sound after all your New Year's Eve revelry. We rounded up a short list of numbers for taxicab companies in the Oak Forest area. You might want to write these down before you head out for the evening. We hope you'll be safe and put these digits to good use. If you lose your list, you can find the nearest taxicab company in your calling area by dialing #TAXI (#-8-2-9-4). You don't need to know the name of cab company and the service helps avoid busy signals at peak times. #TAXI is available for $1.25 to $1.79 per call, depending on the wireless carrier. It takes no money from taxicab companies. #TAXI makes it easy to get home safely. If you need to travel a bit further than a cab ride away, …
