Last Chance to Watch Oak Forest's Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting

The City of Oak Forest's annual Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting take place Saturday, Dec. 8. Watch the parade along Central Avenue, then the tree lighting festivities at Oak Forest City Hall.

The holidays are officially hitting Oak Forest Saturday, Dec. 8, as the city will hold its annual Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony on Central Avenue and at City Hall. The parade, which steps off at Oak Forest High School at 11 a.m., will feature local organizations, churches, groups and more. Once the parade ends, Mayor Hank Kuspa will preside over the tree lighting. Following the parade and tree lighting, don't forget to stop at Oak Forest Fire Station #1 to donate a pint of blood to the Battle of the Badges Community Blood Drive, too. Do you know about an important upcoming deadline? Share it in the comments below and we'll consider adding the info to our next “Last Chance.” You can also post your own events and announcements …

WATCH: All They Want for Christmas Is...

We asked a few youngsters at Oak Forest's tree lighting what they asked Santa for this Christmas. Hear what they had to say.

"A Fij-what?" "A Fijit!" (DUH.) Clearly, Patch should have known what, exactly, a Fijit is. If your Patch editor was a parent, she'd be the least-cool parent on the block, obviously. We're pretty un-hip when it comes to the must-have Christmas toys this season, but we asked anyway: What did you ask Santa for this Christmas? Check out some of the answers from kids after the Oak Forest tree lighting Saturday, Dec. 10, then add your own in the Comments section. What did your kids ask for this season? Best gift idea they gave you? Most unrealistic? Don't be shy—I know at least one little girl asked for a pony.   Special thanks to: Tyler Hessling, Johnny Hall, Zander Hessling, Devon Martin, Amir al Hindi, and Emily Wimmer.
