Police Issue 78 Citations During Holiday Enforcement Campaign

The second of six traffic campaigns during the 2013 fiscal year yielded 78 traffic citations for Oak Forest drivers during the Christmas and New Year's holiday. Citations were mainly issued for seat belt violations.

Oak Forest drivers kept police busy during the recent holiday season, as police officers issued 78 tickets during the Christmas and New Year's holiday. According to a press release from the police, tickets were mainly issued for seat belt violations, although tickets were also issued for driver's license and drug paraphernalia violations as well. The citations were issued as part of the police department's ongoing involvement with the sustained traffic enforcement program funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Police Nab 90 During Thanksgiving Holiday Campaign

Oak Forest Police issued 90 citations, mostly for seat belt violations and failure to properly secure a child, from Nov. 12–25. The campaign was the first of six such heightened enforcement campaigns set for 2013.

Oak Forest police on patrol over the Thanksgiving holiday were kept busy issuing citations, according to a recent release from the department.  Police issued 90 tickets from Nov.12 through 25—most for seat belt violations or failure to properly secure a child. “Highly visible enforcement combined with media notice is intended to remind drivers to properly buckle themselves and their children,” said Oak Forest Deputy Chief Dominic D'Ambrosio. The entire program was funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation's Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP). The campaign is the first of six such campaigns during the 2013 fiscal year, the second campaign began Dec. 17 and will continue through Jan. 1, 2013.   Want more police news? …
