Softball: Lemont Blanks Oak Forest to Clinch Conference Title

Senior Carly Jaworski allowed two hits and struck out five in Lemont's 1-0 win over South Suburban Blue rival Oak Forest.

The score: Lemont 1, Oak Forest 0 The way it happened: The South Suburban Blue conference title was on the line Thursday as Lemont took on rival Oak Forest. Lemont needed a victory to take the crown; a loss would have meant a three-way tie with Oak Forest and Tinley Park. After sharing the title with Oak Forest last year and repeatedly finishing second in years past, the Indians finally came out on top with a 1-0 win Thursday—ending the Bengals' eight-year reign as conference champions. Lemont improved to 21-5 on the season and 17-2 in conference play. The Bengals slipped to 20-14 overall and 15-4 in South Suburban Blue. Oak Forest Teen Arrested in Crash That Paralyzed Other Driver

Erica Gallardo, 19, was charged with aggravated DUI in connection with a 2-car accident last month, and prosecutors claim her blood-alcohol content was .117 percent, Sun-Times Media reports.

An Oak Forest teen was arrested Thursday on an aggravated driving under the influence charge in connection to a late March crash that paralyzed another driver, Sun-Times Media reports. The 26-year-old Oak Forest driver broke his thigh bone, injured his spine and was paralyzed from the waist down, the report added. Thanks to an online comedy video, an Oak Forest High School graduate is being mentioned in the same breath as supermodel Bar Refaeli and Omar from the HBO series The Wire. Actor Vince Rossi, 22, is part of the cast of "Gay Men Will Marry Your Girlfriends," (editor's note: this video is NSFW for language and content) a comedy short from the College Humor website. The video, which already has racked up more than 5 million views on YouTube as of April 10, makes a satirical case for legalizing same-sex marriage as a way to ensure gay men won't be forced to marry the girlfriends of hetero men. Oak Forest, Tinley Park High Schools Win Top Honors Safe Driving Programs

Oak Forest High School came in first place, and Tinley Park High School placed second in their region for their efforts as part of the state's Operation Teen Safe Driving initiative.

Oak Forest and Tinley Park high schools earned first and second place, respectively, in their region for their 2012-13 Operation Teen Safe Driving programs, according to an Illinois Department of Transportation press release. This is the fifth consecutive year Oak Forest has won first-place honors in the program, which is in its sixth year, according to a release from Bremen School District 228.
