Students from Oak Forest High School drifted between a decorated ballroom to the picturesque grounds of Tinley Park's Odyssey Country Club on Saturday as they celebrated that familiar rite of passage, prom. Before the dancing got fully under way Saturday, May 18, the attendees spent time taking photographs—and capturing memories—by the country club's ponds and gazebos. Inside, a professional photographer snapped more traditional images, while a special photo booth gave students an opportunity for more candid shots. Senior Carly Jaworski allowed two hits and struck out five in Lemont's 1-0 win over South Suburban Blue rival Oak Forest.
The score: Lemont 1, Oak Forest 0 The way it happened: The South Suburban Blue conference title was on the line Thursday as Lemont took on rival Oak Forest. Lemont needed a victory to take the crown; a loss would have meant a three-way tie with Oak Forest and Tinley Park. After sharing the title with Oak Forest last year and repeatedly finishing second in years past, the Indians finally came out on top with a 1-0 win Thursday—ending the Bengals' eight-year reign as conference champions. Lemont improved to 21-5 on the season and 17-2 in conference play. The Bengals slipped to 20-14 overall and 15-4 in South Suburban Blue. An Oak Forest teen was arrested Thursday on an aggravated driving under the influence charge in connection to a late March crash that paralyzed another driver, Sun-Times Media reports.
