Oak Forest Steps Out Against Crime

Oak Forest residents took to the streets—well, Central Avenue—for the city's 16th annual National Night Out, an evening intended to promote crime prevention and awareness.

Oak Forest residents got behind the wheel of a squad, checked out the view from behind bars and felt the grip of K9 Officer Orry's jaw—all in one night.  The city's 16th annual National Night Out drew residents to City Hall for an evening of education and awareness, with a little bit of fun thrown into the mix Tuesday, Aug. 7. Oak Forest Police Chief Greg Anderson started the night off with a reminder to help cut back on crime by locking doors and being aware of your surroundings. Anderson invited residents in for a tour of the police department, while the Oak Forest Crime Prevention Committee talked local crime and what residents can do.  K9 Officer Orry held down the backseat of his squad car, hopping out to meet residents snout to face…
