Missing 13-Year-Old Girl Found Before Report Filed

The mother of a 13-year-old Midlothian girl reported her missing Monday, but police found her shortly after.

A 13-year-old Hille Middle School student who was reported missing by her mom Monday morning was back home before the paperwork was even filed, according to police. “The girl has been located. She’s back and everything is fine” said Midlothian police Lt. Harold Kaufman. Kyara Rush, 13, of Midlothian, was reported missing by her mother to police early Monday morning. An email from Margaret Longo, superintendent for Forest Ridge Elementary School District 142, was sent out, saying an Amber Alert had been filed for the teen. No Amber Alert had been filed, Kaufman said. In fact, police hadn’t even finished putting the report into the computer system by the time the girl was found later in the day on Monday, May 20. @Anonymous: Actually, I believe she was found in the morning, fairly soon after her mother had come in. And while the official report hadn't been filed, officers were clearly on the lookout for the girl. One other factor to consider: We don't know the circumstances surrounding any of this. Driver Tries to Split After Crash, Charged with DUI: Blotter

Midlothian police reports, April 21-29 • Marijuana found on man sleeping in his car • Midlothian man charged with possession of a controlled substance.

MONDAY, APRIL 29 Eric J. Bartkowiak, 26, of the 7600 block of West 173rd Street in Tinley Park, was charged with possession of 30 to 500 grams of marijuana and was cited for improper parking on the roadway, according to a report. Police spotted a black Chrysler at about 11:39 p.m., parked facing east in the westbound lane of Springfield Avenue, and the driver appeared to be sleeping, the report stated. An officer saw a plastic bag in the car containing a green leafy substance that, later, was determined to be 44 grams of marijuana. TUESDAY, APRIL 23 Charles R. Alleged Drunken Driver Falls Asleep in Burger King Drive-Through: Blotter

Midlothian police reports, March 30 to April 2 • Catalytic converter taken • Crestwood driver found with drug paraphernalia.

TUESDAY, APRIL 2 A catalytic converter was sawed off from a car that was parked in the Metra parking lot, 147th Place and Waverly Avenue, according to a report. The owner had parked the car at about 6:30 a.m. and returned at 6 p.m. to find the part missing from his 2001 Chevrolet Malibu. The cost to replace the converter is $300. MONDAY, APRIL 1 Eric A. Ramirez, 21, of the 13600 block of Lamon Avenue in Crestwood, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding, according to a report. Ramirez was stopped for speeding at about 9:40 p.m. near 14700 S. Cicero Ave. During the stop, an officer noticed a smell of burnt marijuana coming from Ramirez’s Ford Contour, the report stated. Crestwood Man Repeatedly Punched in the Face: Blotter

Midlothian police reports, March 29-31 • $30 gone after break-in • Air conditioner taken • Stolen $600 bike.

SUNDAY, MARCH 31 About $30 in cash was taken from an apartment in the 3300 block of West 147th Street, according to the report. Someone broke a window on a door to the apartment and unlocked a window. The victim said someone went through all his drawers but that only $30 was missing. SATURDAY, MARCH 30 A $600 bicycle was taken from a house's detached garage in the 14300 block of South Kilbourn Avenue, according to a report. The bike’s told police the burglary happened between March 27 and March 29. Police found no signs of forced entry, the report stated. 2 Men Rob Woman After Work: Blotter

SATURDAY, MARCH 30 Copper pipes from an air conditioner was stolen from a home in the 14800 block of South St. Louis Avenue, according to a report. A basement window was broken, the report stated. THURSDAY, MARCH 28 A 22-year-old out Harvey woman was robbed of her wallet by two men, according to a report. The woman was leaving her work at about 5:26 p.m. in the 14400 block of South Pulaski Road when the men approached her, one of whom put his hand in her pocket and grabbed her wallet. One suspect is described as a 6-foot, 200-pound white man in his last 20s with brown hair, green eyes, a scruffy face and a raspy voice. Catalytic Converters Cut Out of Children's School Bus: Midlothian Blotter

MONDAY, MARCH 25 Someone cut out the catalytic converters out of a bus used by the Bright Visions Learning Academy, according to a report. The preschool, which is at 14804 S. Cicero Ave., uses the bus to transport children. At about 3:30 on March 24, someone tried to start the bus and heard a weird noise. The bus was left in working order on March 22. SATURDAY, MARCH 23 Nicholus C. O'Neal, 27, of the 15000 block of South Leclaire Avenue in Oak Forest, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, according to a report. THURSDAY, MARCH 14 Guillermo Vega, 28, of the 1900 block of South High Street in Blue Island, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, according to a report. Police stopped Vega at about 7:10 p.m. near 14800 South Kedzie Avenue after he was seen weaving in traffic. During the stop, police noticed a smell of alcohol and two, empty 750-ml glass bottles of MD 20/20 Orange Jubilee inside the car. An officer asked for Vega’s birthday, to which he replied, “I already gave my birthday to you. Amr M. Yasin, 18, faces three felony charges after Midlothian police busted him with fraudulent prescriptions at his home in Oak Forest. Yasin sent another person to fill the prescriptions at a Walgreen's in Midlothian on Jan. 24.

An Oak Forest man faces three felony counts of unlawful acquisition of a controlled substance after sending another man to fill fraudulent prescriptions from Walgreen's, 4800 W. 148th Street, in Midlothian on Jan. 24. Amr M. Yasin, 18, of the 6200 block of W. 157th Street, Oak Forest, was charged after police arrested him at his home after witnessing the handoff of the drugs.  A Walgreen's employee called police when a customer tried to obtain fraudulent prescriptions. At the store, Markham police spoke with the man trying to make the purchase, who said Yasin contacted him earlier that day about picking up the prescriptions, as Yasin was sick and had no transportation to the store. SATURDAY, DEC. 8 Police were called to a home in the 14300 block of S. Keeler Avenue, after a resident reported a residential burglary. At the home, police spoke with the owner, who said they arrived at the home at 1:40 p.m. and found the lockbox to the front door missing. Inside the home, the victim said the refrigerator, washer, dryer, stove, central air conditioner compressor, an AC unit and copper piping were all missing from the home. Police spoke with a neighbor, who said they noticed the AC unit missing the afternoon of Dec. 6. Officers processed the scene, but were unable to find any relevant information. Patricia L. Traffic Stops Lead to Drug Busts: Midlothian Police Blotter

Midlothian Police Reports, Aug. 30–Sept. 2.

THURSDAY. Aug. 30 Mohammad Ali Eid, 24, of the 10600 block of S. Depot Street, Worth, was stopped for expired registration on his car. During the stop, Eid was unable to display a drivers license, but did have proof of insurance. While officers were speaking with Eid, they smelled the odor of cannabis, leading to a search of his car. In the car officers found a homemade pipe of tin foil and a glass pipe, both with burnt residue inside. Eid was issued a moving citation for unlawful possession of drug equipment, and a citation for expired registration. FRIDAY, Aug. 31 Alex Sotelo, 23, of the 3900 block of S.
