Driver Gives Fake Name, Charged With Pot Possession: Blotter

Midlothian police reports, May 10-11 • Pot possession charge for Chicago man.

SATURDAY, MAY 11 Johnathan N. Lipscomb, 27, of the 3200 block of Nelson Avenue in Robbins, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructing a police officer, driving with a suspended license, improper display of registration and not wearing a seatbelt, according to a report. Police spotted a silver Chevrolet at about 9:23 p.m. with temporary Indiana registration and a driver who was not wearing a seatbelt, the report stated. The driver, who was later identified as Lipscomb, gave a false name to police, the report continued. ID Thief Files Phony Tax Return Using Real Social Security Number: Midlothian Blotter

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 13 Ivory M. Buchanan, 28, of the 1800 block of Canal Street in Blue Island, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for driving with a suspended license, according to a report. She was picked up at about 2:46 a.m. near 14801 S. Pulaski Rd. MONDAY, MARCH 11 A 53-year-old Midlothian woman who tried to file her 2012 tax return was met with a shock. She told police that, while attempting to file through Turbo Tax software, her social security had already been used. The IRS informed her that the bad tax return was "flagged" and wasn't processed. Police Catch Man With Methadone Pills: Midlothian Blotter

Midlothian police reports, March 5-6 • Red Box movie machine damaged • Blue Island man picked up on traffic warrant • Water heater and 2 sinks stolen from vacant house.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 6 Peter L. Pence, 58, of the 14800 block of South Karlov Avenue in Midlothian, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a police report. Police were called at about 12:51 a.m. to the 100 block of South Koster Avenue. While on the way, police found Pence standing in the middle of 148th Street. An officer searched Pence and found a marijuana pipe and two pills in a plastic baggie. The pills were later identified as methadone by a pharmacist at Walgreens. The touch screen for a Red Box movie rental machine was shattered, according to a report. Homeowner Pins Burglar Until Police Arrive: Midlothian Blotter

Patch regrets the error.  SATURDAY, MARCH 2 James E. Aardsma, 25, of the 15049 S. Springfield Avenue, faces charges of home invasion armed/force, home invasion cause injury and resisting a peace officer, after police arrested him in a home in the 14800 block of S. Hamlin Avenue. Police found Aardsma in a back room of the home, where a witness had him pinned, according to the report. Police took custody of Aardsma and removed him from the home, before speaking with witnesses. Woman Bitten Twice by Daughter's Pit Bulls: Midlothian Police Blotter

A Midlothian woman watching her daughter's two pit bulls was bitten on the hand and the back of her leg on Saturday, March 2. The woman underwent surgery on her hand on March 4 at an area hospital. At least one of the dogs was euthanized.

A Midlothian woman is recovering at an area hospital following surgery, after she suffered two dog bites while watching her daughter's pit bulls March 2.  The dogs were locked in separate areas of the house by the time officers arrived at the home in the 14500 block of Tripp Avenue.  Police found the woman on the kitchen floor, with her right hand wrapped in a blood-soaked kitchen towel, according to the report. Officers helped the victim to her feet, noting the back of her left leg, near her knee, was also soaked through with blood. The woman was watching the two dogs for her daughter, Lauren A. Janssen, and they were playing together when one of the dogs' paws became stuck in the others' choker collar. The victim said she tried to free …

i'm so sick of hearing about Pitbulls in the news. I have a Shepherd and Pit Bull (both can be very dangerous dogs). It's about the owner NOT the dog! Why was a choker collar on in the first place...especially if the dog is without a leash, the collar isn't doing a darn thing! Ugh this just frustrates me that Pits are always picked on and its not always the dog...BLAME THE OWNER!!!!   more ›

SATURDAY, FEB. 23 Nicholas G. Koziokas, 27, of the 5200 block of W. Oakdale Drive, Oak Lawn, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of cannabis, he was issued citations for disobeyed a stop sign and operation of uninsured motor vehicle, following a stop in the 14500 block S. Cicero Avenue. Police stopped Koziokas after witnessing him fail to stop completely at a stop sign at the corner of 145th Street and Cicero Avenue. Officers noticed a strong odor of cannabis coming from Koziokas' car and asked him about the smell. Koziokas told officers he had no cannabis in the car and allowed officers to search his car, according to the report. SUNDAY, FEB. 24 Joshua John Vasquez, 24, of the 8700 block of 81st Court, Hickory Hills, was arrested for battery, following a fight at Durbin's, 14753 S. Cicero Avenue. Police were at Durbin's following a call for a vehicle lockout, when they noticed a large disturbance near the front door, according to the report. Officers spoke with management and two bouncers, who said that Vasquez had just started a large fight inside the bar, when Vasquez exited the establishment, according to the report. Officers took Vasquez into custody and then spoke with three victims in the bar, who said Vasquez struck them with bottles and punched one victim in the face. Wanted Man Turned Over to Cops: Midlothian Police Blotter

WEDNESDAY, FEB. 13 Cindy Castro, 25, of the 15900 block o S. Sawyer Avenue, Markham, was charged with driving while license suspended, unlawful use of a driver's license and cited for driving without headlights, following an incident in the 14800 block of S. Pulaski Road. Police originally stopped Castro for driving without headlamps on. During the stop, police found Castro's license to be suspended for a failure to appear in court. She was taken into custody and transported to the police station, where she was processed and released on bond, pending an April 5 court date. Nicholas C. Virgil, 26, of the 9800 block of S. One Teen Charged in ABC Wireless Burglary

A Robbins teenager, one of two suspects arrested early Wednesday morning after a burglary and standoff at ABC Wireless in Midlothian, is being held without bail following the crime. Charges against the second suspect are expected, Sun-Times Media reports.

Rashawn Taylor, 17, of Robbins, was charged with burglary and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon after an incident early Wednesday morning at ABC Wireless, 3328 W. 147th St. Taylor is currently being held without bond, Sun-Times Media reports. Taylor is being held without bail due to allegedly violating a previous bail for possession of a stolen motor vehicle and residential burglary charges, according to the report. Taylor and another teen broke into the store through a front window, according to police reports. One of the two boys was holding a handgun, which prompted officers to call in the South Suburban Emergency Response Team, which surrounded the building. Cell Phone Store Standoff Ends in Arrests

Two juvenile males are in Midlothian police custody after a burglary and five-hour standoff at ABC Wireless, 3328 W. 147th Street. Charges against the two are still pending as police investigate.

Two Robbins teens will be charged with burglary Wednesday, after they attempted to rob a Midlothian cell phone store Tuesday night, according to reports.  The two were taken into custody after a five-hour wait for them to surrender. Both were seen inside the ABC Wireless store at 3328 W. 147th St. Officers saw two suspects inside the store—one of whom appeared to be holding a weapon, according to a press release from Midlothian police.  Officers called in the South Suburban Emergency Response Team, who surrounded the store around 10 p.m. Tuesday.  Officers tried to contact the two suspects in the store, but failed.
