SATURDAY, MARCH 2 James E. Aardsma, 25, of the 15049 S. Springfield Avenue, faces charges of home invasion armed/force, home invasion cause injury and resisting a peace officer, after police arrested him in a home in the 14800 block of S. Hamlin Avenue. Police found Aardsma in a back room of the home, where a witness had him pinned, according to the report. Police took custody of Aardsma and removed him from the home, before speaking with witnesses. SATURDAY, FEB. 23 Nicholas G. Koziokas, 27, of the 5200 block of W. Oakdale Drive, Oak Lawn, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of cannabis, he was issued citations for disobeyed a stop sign and operation of uninsured motor vehicle, following a stop in the 14500 block S. Cicero Avenue. Police stopped Koziokas after witnessing him fail to stop completely at a stop sign at the corner of 145th Street and Cicero Avenue. Officers noticed a strong odor of cannabis coming from Koziokas' car and asked him about the smell. Koziokas told officers he had no cannabis in the car and allowed officers to search his car, according to the report. SUNDAY, FEB. 24 Joshua John Vasquez, 24, of the 8700 block of 81st Court, Hickory Hills, was arrested for battery, following a fight at Durbin's, 14753 S. Cicero Avenue. Police were at Durbin's following a call for a vehicle lockout, when they noticed a large disturbance near the front door, according to the report. Officers spoke with management and two bouncers, who said that Vasquez had just started a large fight inside the bar, when Vasquez exited the establishment, according to the report. Officers took Vasquez into custody and then spoke with three victims in the bar, who said Vasquez struck them with bottles and punched one victim in the face. WEDNESDAY, FEB. 13 Cindy Castro, 25, of the 15900 block o S. Sawyer Avenue, Markham, was charged with driving while license suspended, unlawful use of a driver's license and cited for driving without headlights, following an incident in the 14800 block of S. Pulaski Road. Police originally stopped Castro for driving without headlamps on. During the stop, police found Castro's license to be suspended for a failure to appear in court. She was taken into custody and transported to the police station, where she was processed and released on bond, pending an April 5 court date. Nicholas C. Virgil, 26, of the 9800 block of S. A Robbins teenager, one of two suspects arrested early Wednesday morning after a burglary and standoff at ABC Wireless in Midlothian, is being held without bail following the crime. Charges against the second suspect are expected, Sun-Times Media reports.
Rashawn Taylor, 17, of Robbins, was charged with burglary and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon after an incident early Wednesday morning at ABC Wireless, 3328 W. 147th St. Taylor is currently being held without bond, Sun-Times Media reports. Taylor is being held without bail due to allegedly violating a previous bail for possession of a stolen motor vehicle and residential burglary charges, according to the report. Taylor and another teen broke into the store through a front window, according to police reports. One of the two boys was holding a handgun, which prompted officers to call in the South Suburban Emergency Response Team, which surrounded the building. Two Robbins teens will be charged with burglary Wednesday, after they attempted to rob a Midlothian cell phone store Tuesday night, according to reports. The two were taken into custody after a five-hour wait for them to surrender. Both were seen inside the ABC Wireless store at 3328 W. 147th St. Officers saw two suspects inside the store—one of whom appeared to be holding a weapon, according to a press release from Midlothian police. Officers called in the South Suburban Emergency Response Team, who surrounded the store around 10 p.m. Tuesday. Officers tried to contact the two suspects in the store, but failed. MONDAY, FEB. 11 Andrew J. Lynch, 18, of the 14800 block of S. Troy Avenue, Posen, was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis under 30 grams and speeding, following a traffic stop in the 140 block of S. Pulaski Avenue. Police originally pulled Lynch over after clocking him driving 40 mph in a 30 mph zone. During the stop, officers smelled the scent of fresh cannabis coming from the vehicle. Officers asked Lynch about the smell and he admitted to having a blunt in his center console. Police confiscated the blunt and had Lynch follow them to the police department, where he was issued citations and released on bond, pending a March 19 court date. THURSDAY, JAN. 31 Zuleika F. Foster, 42, of the 13800 block of S. Kedvale Avenue, Robbins, and Diangelo E. Jones, 41, of the 13100 block of S. Cicero Avenue, Crestwood, were both arrested for retail theft, following an incident at Walgreen's, 4800 W. 148th Street. While on patrol, officers were dispatched to Walgreen's after a report of a retail theft in progress. The suspects fled the scene in a maroon-colored van while police were en route. Police found the van and conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Lavergne Avenue and 149th Street. THURSDAY, JAN. 30 Police were called to a home in the 14500 block of S. Central Park Avenue, after a resident called in a burglary to their home. The victim told police that someone broke the back window of his home and ransacked the house. The suspect(s) took his Playstation 3 system, two video games for the system and a box of change. An Oak Forest man faces three felony counts of unlawful acquisition of a controlled substance after sending another man to fill fraudulent prescriptions from Walgreen's, 4800 W. 148th Street, in Midlothian on Jan. 24. Amr M. Yasin, 18, of the 6200 block of W. 157th Street, Oak Forest, was charged after police arrested him at his home after witnessing the handoff of the drugs. A Walgreen's employee called police when a customer tried to obtain fraudulent prescriptions.
