Oak Forest Home Sales Rise in November

In addition to an 11.8 percent increase in homes sold compared to November 2011, the median price of homes sold was also a bit higher, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe).

The 19 detached, single-family homes sold during November in Oak Forest represented a 11.8 percent increase over November 2011, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe). There were 22 homes sold in Oak Forest during November. In addition, the median price of homes sold in November ($131,500) was 1.2 percent higher than the median price of homes sold in November 2011 ($130,000).  The market for detached, single-family homes in suburbs throughout the Southland saw growth in November, MORe reported. MORe gets its statistics from Midwest Real Estate Data. Mokena saw the largest percent increase, with 87.5 percent more homes sold year over year in November. Oak Forest Sees Boost in Home Sales in September

Oak Forest's real market saw a bit of an increase, as the bulk of the Chicago area saw a bump in year-over-year comparisons. Check out the numbers and tell us what you think it means for the local housing market.

Home sales in the Chicago area during September were at a six-year high, according to a recent RE/MAX report—and most of the Southland saw a similar boost. Oak Forest saw the greatest increase in the area, with the number of homes sold increasing 15.4 percent in September 2012 over September 2011, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe). The average price of those homes sold jumped by 24.8 percent year over year. Palos Hill's market was the most sluggish, with the number of homes sold falling 42.9 percent in September 2012 compared to September 2011.
