Hoge's Hot Hand Helps Astros Burn Bengals

Shepard guard scores 16 of his 21 points in the second half to turn back the Bengals.

Shepard Astros junior guard Matt Hoge got off to a slow start against the Oak Forest Bengals on Friday night. But Hoge more than made up for it by scoring 16 points in the second half and leading the Astros to a 66-62 victory over the visiting Bengals. The Astros (2-4, 1-0) jumped out to an 8-0 lead, only to see the Bengals go on a 7-0 run of their own. It was that kind of game throughout, as the lead changed hands three times. The Astros led 26-24 at halftime, and Hoge got untracked shortly after intermission as Shepard initiated the drive-and-kickout. That put Hoge in position to start draining shots.
