South Suburban Drunken Driving Arrests, Dec. 4

Parked trucks don't just jump out and hit you. Ammo, shrooms and DUI don't mix. This week in DUI arrests in the Southland.

ORLAND PARK Nov. 17: Police were called about a car that crashed into a parked truck in the 10200 block of 151st Street around 6:25 p.m. The truck owner told police that while inside his home, he heard a loud crash and found the front end of his blue truck was damaged, as was the front end of a green Pontiac nearby, police said. The truck owner told police that the Pontiac driver said “that blue truck just hit me,” but he told the Pontiac driver the truck had been parked, according to the report. Police smelled alcohol on the Pontiac driver’s breath and she failed field sobriety tests, police said. Officers also found a plastic bottle in the care with tequila in it, police said. Danielle S. Tinted windows won't hide your lack of sobriety. And Thanksgiving is the worst holiday for DUI fatalities. A roundup of recent DUI arrests in the Southland.

ORLAND PARK NOV. 13: Police pulled over a vehicle with tinted windows after it sat for about 8 seconds at a green light without moving in the 9100 block of 159th Street around 1:10 p.m. The driver’s breath smelled like alcohol and he failed field sobriety tests, police said. Nicholas R. Thompson, 25, of the 1600 block of Fieldstone Drive in Shorewood, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without a license and driving with illegally tinted windows. NOV. 10: Police pulled over a car swerving between lanes at 159th Street and 88th Avenue around 12:20 a.m. Police smelled alcohol on the driver’s breath, and the driver said he didn’t have his license on him, police said.
