Help the Park District Win an Outdoor Movie Theater!

Oak Forest's Park District is in the running to win a 20-foot movie screen, projector and speakers—and they need you to help bring it home!

The Oak Forest Park District is planning to host three movie showings at El Morro Park this summer—and they would love to do it on a big, beautiful new screen. The park district is in the running for a 20-foot screen, projector and speakers, which would make the movie experience pretty incredible, said Cynthia Grannan, director of parks and recreation. The outdoor movie system is the grand prize of a contest hosted by Open Air Cinema, and Oak Forest residents can give the park district a leg up on the competition. Voting ends June 15. Here's what to do: Currently, the park district uses a canvas screen stretched across a wooden frame—a system that takes five people just under an hour to set up, Grannan said.
