Did you see the Drew Peterson movie? It portrayed Hosey's office as a gleaming, modern andRead More bustling. As opposed to the stained drop-ceiling and general bleakness. Just let the Patch be the joke it always has been.
Jacob Matthews April 21, 2014 at 08:48 am
Leave it to the Patch to embellish Comedy Central as a business to be respected.

Maybe Flo W and Jake Matt are smokin' the same stuff "Officer Munchies" might have beenRead More on. Hope he was given blood and hair toxicology tests. Thought they were trained in defensive driving. What if it was a human body that the squad was "Mounted" on? Would you dismiss it also, Scum? I was told by a woman who counsels officers that 75-80% of all officers suffer from mental illness. If that is true, I hope the officer gets a psych exam and also pays for the damage out of his/her own pocket and NOT the Taxpayers. It isn't funny, it's Scary!

Don't feel sorry for this man. Personally he is not any man that should be around kids and settingRead More an example. He is living 2 lives, that's probably why he was out drinking, trying to figure out how to cover his lies. FYI, it's not his first DUI either.
Wow April 17, 2014 at 07:51 pm
SLS it seems to me like you have way to much time on your hands a quite an obsession with this man.Read More Why are you putting his business out there for the world to see? It has nothing to do with the article? You really need to get a life! How do you know that he shouldn't be around kids? And since when does what you do in your personal life have anything to do with how you act around kids or at your job? You act like you have never done anything wrong your whole life! Leave your negative comments else where and quit talking about irrelevant information. You sound like a teenager spreading rumors!

Sad to say, but I know a lady who counsels officers and she claims that 75-80% of All cops sufferRead More from mental illness. If that is true, it kinda explains why our law enforcement departments seem to be unable to operate without any kind of honesty and integrity. Perhaps better hiring standards should be implemented.

Sad that some people believe that the beating was justified. That type of punishment did not befitRead More the crime. It appears that the officers have mental health issues. If they are so thin-skinned that they have to beat someone for spitting on them, then they are probably sick in the head. They can get help for that type of psychotic outburst. If he spit on another patron and a bunch of guys jumped him, they would have been arrested. Everyone I have spoken to believes the officers should go to jail. I can't disagree. Anger management problems=Mental Illness. Sicko Boys in Blue.

@ knee jerk. Although the upper limit IQ for officers is 105, the target IQ is between 94-98. TheRead More average IQ of a U.S. citizen is 100. Does anything happen in Darien anymore?! I never see any articles about anything happening inRead More Darien, the Lion's Club pancake breakfast, the armed robberies at the gas stations, the 75th St. construction, city council budget, anything Darien related! How can you call this the Darien Patch when there is nothing about Darien in. Every other town or city has a Patch site that has articles related to their town. We get lazy editors who just copy and paste from other news sites.
Kelly O' March 30, 2014 at 06:17 pm
You don't have a lot of crime in Darien. Thank your lucky stars.

^^^HMMM, more calls for censorship. Typical. I believe this question was what you call rhetorical.Read More To satisfy your rudeness and answer the question of did the Oak Forest police and DCFS and the family fail this little girl, I think that since she was murdered, allegedly by the very person that the police and DCFS were warned about, that answer is yes. Most people understand that Lauren was posing this question to get people to think, but apparently, that is beyond your capability. Now call me a racist to make yourself feel better.

Not telling - I would guess the scholarships could have been pulled for violating the code ofRead More conduct that the athletes are to adhere to. A very sad situation for all involved. A 29 year old man should know better than to have a sexual relationship with a teenager! I hope the police in the state he is being allowed to work in are watching him like a hawk as well as his co-workers that may have teenage daughters.

I still doubt that she has lost her scholarship. Most likely just rumors put out by the people whoRead More continue to blame her and not the adult. According to the law she is considered a victim, did nothing wrong, therefore no reason to rescind the offer.

Arthur....the complaint about unions is that they defend employees such as her....she should haveRead More been fired the first time! She has people's lives in her hands....unions make it impossible to weed out bad employees...
Arthur Huff March 27, 2014 at 09:51 am
Deerfield, if it comes out that the union had a role in what happened in February being handled theRead More way it was then I'm right there with you. But we don't know that yet. All we know now is that the CTA handled it that way, we don't know why. For what it's worth, and I'm just pointing out facts for the sake of the discussion, in this crash and the one in New York it was a union official who told the press that the operator dozed off. Doesn't sound like they were trying to protect either of them, does it? In both of these cases they could just give us the standard "we are still trying to determine the cause blah blah blah" but in both cases they admitted right away that the driver was totally at fault. I'm not saying unions are perfect and don't obstruct weeding out bad employees, i.e teachers and tenure, but in this case we have no indication YET that it played a role.
Sue1 March 28, 2014 at 10:25 am
It would be interesting to get a copy of their contract. I would bet they have some sort ofRead More progressive discipline language in it, which would explain why she wasn't fired after the first incident.

A good Oak Forest Officer . Will keep him and family in our prayers.
Marye Greenys March 18, 2014 at 06:00 pm
Remembering Officer James Morrissy Jim joined the Police Force thirty years ago fresh faced,Read More wide-eyed and eager. Yes eager to serve and protect each and every day of his life putting his life on the line for the better of mankind. He left behind a wife and three sons and a community of family and friends. Jim had an extended family full of brothers and sisters that served beside him on the force. Jim was a leader and a teacher as well to his family, our officers, and the community. As a community we all need to remember how he lived as well as how he died. I believe Jim might say don’t feel sorry for me because my life has been cut short. I died as I chose to live. I followed my heart and my dream. I died doing my job the one I loved the one I chose. To serve and protect the community was an honor to me. Some of us never follow our dreams we just give up but not Jim. He followed his dreams and put his life on the line and never looked back knowing what the outcome might be. He stared death in the face each and everyday and was not afraid. How lucky was Jim an Irishmen to meet his fate on St. Patty’s Day and for Saint Patrick himself to take him to his new home? A job well done my son is what I believe Saint Patrick said to Jim. Come and feast at our table for all you have done. I believe when Jim closed his eyes for the very last time it was all of us he saw, when his heart beat for the last time a part of us were all locked in, and when he took his last breath he breathed part of us in. Jim took with him a part of us all he is surrounded with love on the next part of his journey to his new home. Jim is gone physically from our lives but he will never be forgotten. He lives forever spiritually in our minds and in our hearts. If we close our eyes we can see him, if we touch our hearts we can feel him and carry him wherever we go. In our memories he is vivid and in living color as our memories surround us and keep us warm. Is death the end? I think not. It is a place for us to wait for those we have known and start a new journey again. Close your eyes and you will see him, touch your hearts and you will feel him… for Jim now resides there.
