His dad has done him no favors by not letting him serve his "real" time. Life is going toRead More deal him a heavy blow that dad can't fix.

I would make my son do the time and read the USC and ILCS

if someone does drugs and ruins their life (or ends it) that's one thing. If they're selling theRead More crap and ruining someone elses life they deserve the punishment they get. getting out with a seven month stint in "boot camp" is a slap in the face to the people that spent time and money arresting the piece of refuse.

An uninsured, unlicensed driver, driving recklessly by running a red light, injuring a law abidingRead More driver and an innocent child. She should be charged with 2 counts of attempted manslaughter and locked up for a long time! Danny, I don't know if Tecaxco-Meyo is actually a legal immigrant but, "freedom and the American way" start with following/obeying the American laws which all the illegals are not doing right from the time they step foot in this country, on a regular basis.

Police and courts need to be stricter when people are caught driving without licenses. About tenRead More years ago, in a private parking lot, I had an accident with a Caucasian woman. She had claimed I backed into her, but really, I was stopped and ready to move forward when she swung around my back end. She was running into the store to buy beer and on her way to a funeral! She did not have a license on her and somehow magically an hour later when the police arrived and her Mom was there she had a license and insurance. I think the police let her slide!! Thank God, it was only minor damage, but my insurance went up due to her lies and the police cover up!

Women behind the wheel is like having revelations of crashes. She cuts off to many drivers, I think

@Bob, Show a little compassion. The report said the mother told police about it on June 4th. TheRead More boy went immediately to the hospital on June 2nd right when it happened. I believe they were a little busy with doctors and emergency care on the 2nd to think about reporting it. The accident happened while the boy was playing a video game in his living room. I suppose he didn't think he needed to have eye protection on for that. The boy who shot him was playing with the gun next to him and pointed it at the boy and shot not knowing if it was loaded. Please consider the family before we talk negative about the stories.

8:06 P.M. Wed. -Your account of the accident (above) was exact. I was at the light at 135th onRead More Ridgeland Ave. preparing to turn west. Since I was the 3rd car from the light, I only saw the cyclist fly through the air and hit the driver's side door of a car on Ridgeland in the left turn lane waiting at the red light to turn westward . The driver must have been shocked when he was hit. I sure was upset.

Well, next time you go anywhere down the street. Watch out for people on bike:s. I,make sure they goRead More first before turning any where. I,hate to see anyone get hurt by a car. I,hope the guy or the woman on the bike is okay too,

the point of this forum is to give opinions moron so if you don't like hearing about it then leaveRead More the page and go annoy other people

Did I miss a main component in this article....the part that states this idiot was Irish and/orRead More drinking at a South Side Irish bar? No, I didn't think so. So, George, what stupidity are you spouting?!? Troll. I take no issue with people expressing their opinion on either side of this coin when it comes to what this Wastoid should be charged with....but the nonsense you are blundering on about is nothing but attention-seeking BS.

The point is they promote drinking which in turn results in drunk drivers.

7 years for a death? A family has lost their Mom. The community has lost an experienced ICU nurse.Read More The loss to the family AND the community is not compensated by 7 years. I am thinking 20 is more appropriate. How many lives did she save? How many more lives would she have saved had she lived? And what value does this looser add to his community? Killing someone while driving drunk is NOT an accident, it is a given. Managing to not kill someone while driving drunk is the accident.
fred June 10, 2013 at 08:51 pm
@Azetbur. I'll bet if you research other Cook County cases of DIU turns into death of other vehicleRead More driver, and an admission of guilt on the part of the DUI offender, without a costly trial to the taxpayers, that that 7 years is on target. But I agree with your position of anger. Furthermore, will he only need to serve 3 more with good behavior?
George June 11, 2013 at 12:29 pm
That's right people you like Bars and Pubs in your village. Oak Forest, Crestwood, Tinley Park.Read More Count the number of Bars, and drinking establishments. You and your family is at risk for a drunken driver. And these towns encourage people to drink. The laws a soft on offenders because the liquor and bar industry has a lobby in Springfield looking out for the drinkers and the bars who serve them.

@debra--never had a ticket in my life (thank's for judging) and it is the law (in some town's thatRead More the light's have to be on) it like they are hiding out just waiting for some seatbelt breaker..my Uncle who is a cop for Oak Forest said a lot in being now is that cop's don't get involved with a lot because of lawsuit's nowaday's..so they do the basic--but you do have some that go above and beyond....and with that being said...it is ashame you never-ever mentioned the victim in your statement..you just wanted to bash me..so I will pray for you to get a heart...and a gain "GOD BLESS" Mr. Shah and his "FAMILY"........and Ifone.. and no excuses about not wanting to stop...there were no other call's that came in and if people were afraid of getting in trouble..Walgreen's right there had a phone..I am sure they would have called the cop's...geez people a call..might have saved this man...

Everyone has lots of opinions but no one seems to have any facts on the situation. Lets wait untilRead More the police disclose what exactly happened before jumping to conclusions. It is very sad that someone is dead , we still don't know how or what happened.

Why is it taking so long to release info on someone that's been in custody since the day after itRead More happened? It's taking this long to charge them? Do they have the right person? Is it someone with enough power or pull to keep this quiet?

8 ounces of weed in a Mason jar? That must be one monster-sized Mason jar. What makes people thinkRead More it's a smart thing to drive around speeding and smoking weed? The weed. FAIL

@Julie Roberts- I believe you must be very cold! It is a shame that others suffer when one personRead More cannot think clearly. Those who commit suicide are not thinking clearly. It is wonderful that the family member you had was able to get support before something like this happened. That is not always the case for all who are suffering. Please tell me you do not work with people! I am sorry for the family and friends of this young man. It is never easy when a life is lost. My prayers go out to all of you. I hope that in time you can heal and remember all of the good things/times that you had with this man.
James K June 5, 2013 at 07:51 pm
Well cold as it may sound Julie Is correct. When he posted something on social media, and then do itRead More in public at a place where my children have been fishing many times putting the citizens in danger, he drew the attention which causes questions from people who are not involved, in turn causing grief to his family and friends. I understand people are looking for someone to blame, however it's not the reporters or from any of these comments. Its horrible that he was suffering, however innocent people could have been harmed in this incident.
debra June 5, 2013 at 10:30 pm
i think its sad,but i see no disrespect,i feel very bad for his family, there were alot of peopleRead More there, wondering how he died,it was a public place, not his home, may god bless him, and his family, for what is ahead

I'm wondering why there is no mention of the marijuana or the paraphernalia commonly associated withRead More marijuana use (pipes, rolling papers,....) that the police recovered at the scene. Without any evidence of marijuana use other than an alleged smell, it sure seems like the smell of burnt marijuana may have just been something that the officer made up as his "reasonable suspicion" to order those kids out of the vehicle.
