Way to go neighbors that spotted the men responsible for these thefts. While the police caughtRead More them, it is the people in the neighborhood that are deserving the credit for the arrest and for keeping their neighborhood safe. Wish there were more neighbors like them.

It's was a horrible accident. My heart goes out to the families. The news did a cover story on thisRead More stretch of highway. It showed 172 accident 6 deaths and 58 injuries. The state needs to take a look into that. I do feel his bail is excessive. Let alone made him out to look like a murderer who intentionally did this. I guarantee he wishes it was him rather than to take 4 lives. I think there are many occupations that don't require log books yet these people have been up for 24 hrs + and they get behind the wheel. Yes he should be held responsible but There are people committing horrific crimes that don't get that kind of bail. I know when something horrible happens they want to throw the book at that person. Unfortunately nothing will change the outcome. A perfect example is cell phones. Many deaths have resulted from people causing accidents while on the phone. It's against the law to use them when driving but I see it every day. I will say people are responsible for there actions and there the only ones to blame. Don't put the blame on the state police. That's not on them. I feel for them and everyone on that scene because no doubt it was a horrific accident scene

What's with the mention of the restriction for a vision disability. I have one of those on myRead More license. It means I wear corrective lenses. The guy most likely fell asleep at the wheel, you can do that while having perfect eyesight.

Yes I live in the area (Midlothian). Just because you don't see people getting pulled over doesn'tRead More mean it isn't happening. Did you see me get pulled over in OF at 159th and Arroyo for speeding about three years ago?

Stop the revolving door of justice(nonjustice!)!! Once they are involved in a crime involving a gun,Read More they should be sentenced to Hard Labor.. That's right, just like the Old Days!! No more of this crap where they lay around and get free room and board! Put them out in chain gangs and let them work! Screw the bleeding hearts who want to be nice to felons! Most of these people are hardened criminals..once again, if you do the crime, you do the time..But, now make it Hard Time that may sway them to straighten up!!
Blackdemon July 25, 2014 at 06:02 am
I bet they are glad they have the toughest gun laws on their books. It sure is stopping the ThugsRead More from shooting each other, and the little want to be Thugs. Just like Detroit, this town is lost. Most of our major cities are headed here shortly. The good people move out, and you are left with ghetto full of Thugs. We should bring back hard labor. Jail shouldn't be a good thing.

I've had way too many close calls from ignorant a-holes doing everything but paying attention to theRead More road. News flash; the world doesn't revolve around you, your twitter feed, your facebook posts, or reading the paper (yeah I've seen people reading the paper while driving). Get your head out of your a** and drive. You're only piloting a 3000+ pound missile, and it might actually require you to f**king pay attention.....

Harry Callahan July 14, 2014 at 08:56 AM - "... walk around with their I-Phones in theirRead More hands...I call them "THE WALKING DEAD". **MR. CALLAHAN, I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU!! *Last winter I was driving down a parking lot aisle at Walmart, Matteson, looking for a parking place. *AND I go slower than a snail because one never knows when a child will dart out, a car backs out without driver looking, etc., *This particular time I had stopped!! - BECAUSE a group of 3-4 women were walking TOWARDS my car. *AND one member of this group of 3-4 WAS SO BUSY TEXTING that she would have WALKED STRAIGHT INTO THE FRONT OF MY CAR - had not one of her friend pulled the "texting" woman to the side. *AND - HAD I NOT BEEN WATCHING AND KEEPING MY CAR MOTIONLESS - THAT WOMAN WOULD HAVE BEEN HIT! * "THE WALKING DEAD" is a very appropriate term! *Too many drivers go through store parking lots at a pretty fast clip in order to beat another driver to an empty parking place. *Those drivers pay NO ATTENTION to those walking - or - "THE WALKING DEAD"!

Mike Fangman, implied consent has nothing to do with roadblocks and checkpoints. You seem to beRead More having some difficulty understanding what implied consent means so I will try to help you. Illinois has an implied consent law, which means that the act of getting behind the wheel of a car indicates that you have consented to take a chemical test if a police officer believes you are under the influence. You can refuse to take the tests, but that will come with some pretty serious penalties, including loss of your driving privileges. So you see, Mike, I understand what implied consent means even if you cannot grasp the concept yourself.

Hey Mike, if you really want to catch drunk drivers, there is a better way that does not cost asRead More much and results in almost 3 times more DUI arrests than checkpoints, roving patrols. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has concluded, after numerous field studies, that the number of DUI arrests made by roving patrols is nearly three times the average number of DUI arrests made by officers at a sobriety checkpoint. As an added bonus, you don't need a Supreme Court decision to make roving patrols "legal".

S.S. number should only be given to your employer and your bank or any other source of INCOME forRead More reporting to the government. I tell anyone else that it's against the law to ask for this information. The companies that hired Plus and Minus to do drug testing should have investigated the background of Plus and Minus before they hired P&M. The HR department should be accountable for sloppy work and should now set up an account for ID Fraud for all the people tested.
