I would love to have my dog featured on here...how can I get him qualified?

My brother Greg was approached by Elizabeth on this. He told Elizabeth that it was too personal for…Read More him to deal with that question (our dad passed in 2008 and is still sorely missed), however he called me & asked me to consider finding Elizabeth to respond! We discussed our various remembrances of Dad & came to a consensus that he taught us to respect and have patience for others....to see the good in the "everyman." I remember Dad coming home & telling us about sharing church stories with the janitor who worked for Dad's company. I remember him, as a Little League coach, not worrying about the win, but about giving every kid a chance to play. This translated into Greg Johnson's legacy as a coach in town & my working in employee relations roles (& teaching diversity) for 24 years. We could go on & on....he taught me that you can do whatever you set your mind to do. He struggled with Parkinson's for 16 years but never let it stop him from performing in some way. He was our hero & role model...Don Johnson

Aw, Heidi (and Greg), thanks so much for this remembrance. I only last week saw the plaque honoring…Read More your dad at the Kent Co. Y. I never knew!

After watching the video, I tried to think of something my Dad has taught me. He has over the years…Read More taught me many, many important things, but most importantly he shows me in the things he does everyday, the way he lives his life. His childhood was far from ideal, but he raised my sister and I knowing that he would always be there for us, always be proud of us, and always support us. He is kind and generous and strong. He is absolutely the BEST DAD and I am so thankful for him.

Tie down trampolines or flip them over unless you want to donate them to your neighbors.

Maybe I am just not used to it, but I don't like your new look. Also you state that " to go…Read More with the village news coverage you love", look at the picture below the article, it says City of Oak Forest. Oak Forest is a city not a village.

@Patrick McCarthy:
What in particular don't you like about the new look?
Thanks for catching the…Read More error. I fixed it. That's what happens when you switch back and forth between two coverage areas. Sometimes a tiny part of you gets stuck thinking about Tinley, while the rest of you is concentrating full-bore on Oak Forest.

Thanks for replying Joe. I enjoy Patch very much. There is nothing in particular I don't like, it…Read More will probably just take time for it to grow on me. I enjoyed and was used to the old format. What's most important to me is the quality of the reporting , not how the page looks.

Right Rich...it never happens. Did you ever consider it has not happened in Oak Forest because we…Read More have not had any recent winds large enough to cause this? A friend of the family is also a carpenter for more than 35 years...it does not make him good at what he does.
If it happens around other parts of the country when high winds hit, that means either Oak Forest and surrounding areas have not been hit with hard enough winds to be able to do this or the laws of physics that apply elswhere do not exist in Oak Forest.

It happened in Georgia but mains there are only required to have 2; of cover. Illinois requires…Read More mains to have 5' of cover, big difference. It will never happen here. It is also an old wives tale that roots wrap around the pipe and crush it. Roots infiltrate the sewer pipe through joints and block the sewer. It is vey uncommon to see a broken sewer pipe. Many broken pipes are created by less than honest contractors who break the pipe themselves to make more money.
