Sixty-four men and women serve the citizens of Oak Forest as part of the Oak Forest Police Department. Forty-one officers, 12 dispatchers and one animal-control officer help protect and serve residents.

The department is led by Police Chief Greg Anderson and Deputy Police Chief David DeMarco.

The department includes several investigative and support services bureaus. Officer work details include patrol, canine, investigative, dispatch (911) services, tactical, crime-free housing, records, field training, evidence and property, professional standards and animal control.

Officers also help enforce Oak Forest's Crime-Free Rental Housing Program ordinance. First adopted in 2006, the program helps reduce crime in Oak Forest by increasing property owners' awareness and education of crime prevention, building security and tenant responsibility. The ordinance requires rental properties to be licensed, and owners or landlords must be licensed according to the prorgam's requirements.
