Shoot Free Throws for a Chance to Win a Turkey

Making plans for the weekend? Patch has rounded up a list of events and activities going on in and around Oak Forest.

If nothing matters but the weekend, you better plan it out. Patch is here to help by spotlighting some of what's going on Friday, Saturday and Sunday in and around Oak Forest.

Limber up and lace up those sneakers for a chance to win a turkey at the Oak Forest Park District's free throw contest Saturday, Nov. 9.

If you shoot nothin' but net on most free-throw attempts, you could have a shot at winning the Oak Forest Park District's free-throw contest.

The annual Turkey Shoot will be held Saturday, Nov. 9, with teams shooting off against each other for a chance at winning a turkey. The action starts at 6:30 p.m.

Each team member will shoot 20 free throws (10 each). Teams may show up throughout the competition, but the cutoff is 8:15 pm. The adult/child teams will compete with other teams of the same child age group and adult gender.

Winners for each age group will be called on Monday, Nov. 11 for prize pickup. Limit one turkey per family.

ALSO THIS WEEKEND:

SATURDAY, NOV. 9
High Conflict Parents Workshop at Acorn Public Libary, 2 p.m.: Learn some strategies for effective communication and negotiation for families experiencing divorce. Our High Conflict Diversion Program/Workshop requires that only one parent understand and implement the strategies we teach. Even with changes incorporated by one parent, the conflict can be stopped. It should be noted that when substance abuse, personality disorders or other issues of this nature (such as a spouse who can’t or won’t “disconnect”) are involved, special and more individualized strategies are required. These are all incorporated into the curriculum and a major focus of the High Conflict Diversion Program.

SUNDAY, NOV. 10
