Don't Forget the Oak Forest Community Awareness Fair

Making plans for the weekend? Patch has rounded up a list of events and activities going on in and around Oak Forest.

Join the Oak Forest-Crestwood Area Chamber of Commerce for its 33rd Annual Community Awareness Fair Saturday, Oct. 19. It's a free event which showcases business, organizations and groups in the local area. Take in local entertainment, mini-farmers market, food court, prizes, and plenty of giveaways, too! Feeling generous? Donate during the Oak Forest Rotary sponsored blood drive. Need a flu shot? It's a one-stop shop—Walgreens flu shots will be available. The fair will take place at Oak Forest High School, with doors opening at 10 a.m. For more information, go to www.oc-chamber.org. Free admission!

The schedule of entertainment includes:

10 a.m.: Hille Middle School Band 
10:30 a.m.: Oak Forest High School Band 
11 a.m.: Oak Forest High School Choir 
11:30 a.m.: Crestwood Christian Center 
12:30 p.m.: Oak Forest Park District (OFPD) Gymnastics
12:45 p.m.: OFPD Cheer
1:10 p.m.: OFPD Martial Arts
1:25 p.m.:  OFPD Dance

What Else to Watch for This Weekend

SATURDAY, OCT. 19
Fall Fashion Show,  St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 14700 Kildare Ave., Midlothian

Beginning at 2 p.m., enjoy a fun afternoon with a fashion presentation hosted by Jenny Applegate and Karen Ehrisman (stylists from Style for Hire, a company co-founded by celebrity Stylist, Stacy London ofWhat Not To Wear). The fashion presentation will include a show of the latest fall trends featuring amazing models from the community!

There will also be an opportunity to shop with local stylish vendors of jewelry, handbags, and many more while sipping complimentary wine! Raffle prizes will be available featuring great neighborhood restaurants, stores, and entertainment! Tickets are $10. Find more info. 

KidPower Boo Bash Fundraiser for Victims of Child Abuse: Every year close to 100,000 children are victims of child abuse in the State of Illinois. Cook County alone is responsible for 35,000 of these reported cases. The Genesis Therapy Center's Children's services not only help those victimized by abuse and domestic violence, we also help children coping with grief and loss of a loved one, divorce, blended family issues, learning disabilities, school related issues and much more. The party goes down at Chicago Gaelic Park, 6119 W. 147th Street in Oak Forest.  Tickets are $30 per person, $5 for 18 and under. Find more info. 

'Black and Boo' Halloween Party Fundraiser for Local Animal Rescue: 
Enjoy dancing, raffles, a costume contest, door prizes, dinner buffet, and premium drinks at Durbin's in Tinley Park, from 7 to 11 p.m. $45 per adult ticket benefits the animals. Get more info and buy ticket.
