The extreme cold temperatures have caused closing and cancellations around Tinley Park. The follow places have officially called off or postponed activities for Monday, Jan. 6.

Businesses


Taps Pub: Closed Monday, Jan. 6; reopens at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7.

Acorn Public Library


The library will be closed Monday, Jan. 6, because of the cold.

Nu-Way Disposal


Garbage pickup is canceled for Monday, Jan. 6, and scheduled pickups will resume Tuesday, Jan. 7, and be delayed by a day. Go to Nu-Way's website for more information.

Oak Forest Park District


The district's Central Park Building and Fitness Center will be open, but the following activities are canceled: 
  • FunTime
  • Little Tykes
  • Yoga
  • Fitness Express
  • Tumbling
  • Mini-Cheer Team
  • Dance programs
The Don Gorman Fieldhouse also will be closed, and the Parent & Tot Gymnastics and HeadStart Gymnastics are canceled.

School Closings


  • Bremen Community High School District 228: Oak Forest High School freshmen orientation also is canceled Monday, Jan. 6.
  • Arbor Park School District 145
  • Community Consolidated School District 146: The district office also will be closed.
  • Forest Ridge Elementary School District 142
  • Prairie Hills Elementary School District 144
  • St. Damian School
  • Hope Montessori (Tinley Park)
  • St. George School (Tinley Park)
  • Trinity Lutheran School (Tinley Park)
  • Christian Hills School (Orland Hills)
  • Mi Sol Montessori Spanish Immersion Preschool (Orland Park)
  • Robert Morris University (Orland Park)
  • St. Michael School (Orland Park)
  • Southwest Cooperative for Special Education Sites (Oak Forest and Orland Park)
*School-related activities also are canceled for these districts unless otherwise noted.
