Dip into Swimming Lessons with Oak Forest Barracudas

Wondering what's going on in and around Oak Forest? Check out our daily look at what you should be watching out for each day and the entire week.

Want to get your little one's feet wet? The Oak Forest Swim Association Barracudas will offer swim lessons through its BETTA program, for kids 4 years and older. Eight-week sessions cost $80. Choice of time is on a first-come, first-serve basis and will be the same for each lesson. No make-ups allowed. 

Registration is Tuesday, Dec. 3 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Oak Forest High School. Find out how you can dive into swimming lessons.

The Great 2013 Toy Wrap: This year, hundreds of compassionate volunteers invite you to join Children’s Hunger Fund to wrap tens of thousands of toys for children who might otherwise go without this Christmas. Come volunteer at the Chicago warehouse and you can be the difference between despair and hope! Get more info. 

Dinner and a Show with Oak Forest High School Madrigals: The Oak Forest High School Music Department will present its Madrigal Feast Dec. 7 at 6:30 p.m. and Dec. 8 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $25 and are not sold at the door.

Make Christmas Magical for Children in Need: The community is invited to help spread holiday cheer to those in need by participating in the "Toys for Tots" drive. Toys for Tots collects new, unwrapped toys for local children in need. All donated toys should be new in sealed boxes and dropped off unwrapped by Friday, Dec. 13.

Sign Up Now for Oak Forest Relay for Life 2014: Residents ready to hit the track for a good cause might have to wait to walk—but they can sign up now. Registration is now open for Oak Forest's Relay for Life 2014, to be held Friday, June 20. 

Register for the Oak Forest Fleadh 5K: The Fleadh is coming and registration for the 5K, which kicks off at 8:30 a.m. March 8, is already underway. The cost is $30 for pre-registration and $35 for registration the day of the race.
