Forest Ridge School District Begins Classes Monday


Classes start for Forest Ridge School District 142 on Monday, Aug. 19. That means summer is over for students attending Ridge Early Childhood Center, Kerkstra Elementary School, Lee R. Foster Elementary School and Jack Hille Middle School. Don't forget: Patch wants to document kids' first day of school. Find out how you can share your photos and videos.

What Else to Watch for This Week

MONDAY, AUG. 19

Our Lady Of Knock Feast Day Celebration: Chicago Gaelic Park will present a benediction, rosary and procession to the Grotto at 7:30 p.m. at the center, 6119 W. 147th St. Refreshments will be served. Find out more details.

TUESDAY, AUG. 20

High Schools Start Classes:
 Oak Forest and Tinley Park high schools begin the 2013-14 school year. Freshmen and transfer students, however, begin Monday, Aug. 19.

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 21

Arbor Park School District 145 Classes Begin:
 Students attending Scarlet Oak Elementary School and Arbor Park Middle School start classes. There will be early dismissal this day, with a full day of classes resuming Thursday, Aug. 22.

FRIDAY, AUG. 23

Gov. Quinn Luncheon at Senior Center: The final deadline for tickets for Friday's lunch event to listen to Gov. Pat Quinn speak and sign bills into law at the Bremen Township Senior Center in Oak Forest is noon Monday, Aug. 19. Seniors age 60 and older will be served a barbecue lunch with a requested $4 donation. Tickets can be picked up at the senior center, 15350 Oak Park Ave. Find out more details
