This Week's Pet: A Relaxed, Sweet and Fluffy Feline

Can you give a sweet, cuddly older cat a home?

Like most cats, Melissa might seem like a loner most of the time, but she has a lot of love to give, say the volunteers at PAWS.

The 10-year-old brown and tan, medium-haired cat will roll over for a belly brushing with just a gentle nudge, and still swipes at toys dangling above her head like a spry kitten. She's 9 pounds of fur and purr, with bright green eyes and a bushy tail. Melissa came to PAWS as a stray in April, and she's shown staff her laid-back nature by catching cat naps in the sun and purring for a brushing. She came to the shelter microchipped, with all her claws. She is also spayed.

Melissa comes with another perk. As a cat older than 7 years old, she's eligible for the shelter's Seniors for Seniors program. Special PAWS "kittizens" are available to owners over 60 years of age for a discounted rate of $25. Can you pair this cool, senior cat with a kind senior companion?
