This Week's Pets: Dogs Saved from Animal Hoarder

Two weeks ago, Tinley Park PAWS took in a very special group of dogs—14 of 100 rescued from the Kentucky home of an animal hoarder.

recently embraced some guests in need of particularly delicate TLC. A group of dogs found in the Kentucky home of an animal hoarder arrived malnourished, covered in dirt and eager for a second chance.

Meet beagles Thelma and Louise, chow mix Hunter, Japanese spitz Roxy, and terrier mix Zoey II. These resilient pooches are recovering from the conditions of their former home while settling into their new surroundings. They are five of 14 dogs taken into PAWS after being removed from the building housing 100 dogs, some which were found dead. One of the dogs (not featured here) underwent immediate care to repair a gunshot wound.

Volunteers at PAWS are lovingly nursing the dogs back to health. Some are available for adoption now; others will need a bit more time to recuperate.

Today's stars include:

  • Inseparable beagle buddies Thelma and Louise (8 years old and 6 years old, respectively). Volunteers insist the two be adopted together.
  • Chow mix Hunter (1.5 years)—friendly, with a quiet temperament and kind eye.
  • One-year-old Roxy—a big personality in a small, soft, sassy package.
  • Zoey II, who shows the lasting effects of very little socialization and care. She is timid, but kind.

If you can open your homes to any of these dogs, contact PAWS at 815-464-7298 or visit www.pawstinleypark.org.
