IDOT: Nightly Lane & Shoulder Closures on I-57 from 175th Street to Halsted Begin Monday

Heads up, drivers.

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announced that weather permitting, repairs to the shoulder on I-57 northbound and southbound from 175th to Halsted Street in Chicago and Oak Forest, will begin Monday, July 28, 2014.

In order to safely perform this work, nightly lane and shoulder closures on both northbound and southbound I-57 will occur between the hours of 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. The project has a completion date of September 30, 2014.

Motorists can expect delays during times when the lane closures are in effect and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signing in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
