Oak Fest 2013: What's on Tap for Saturday

Take a look at the activities planned for Family Fun Day and the musical entertainment for Saturday, July 6.

Oak Fest, Oak Forest's annual summer celebration, continues through Sunday at 159th Street and Central Avenue. Admission to the event is free.

Saturday, July 6


  • Festival Hours: Noon to midnight
  • Bingo: Noon to 11 p.m.
  • Country Radio U.S. 99.5: The radio station will be at the festival with its photo trailer from noon to 6 p.m.
  • National Weather Service Forecast: Mostly sunny, high of 83. A 20 percent chance of rain at night, low of 69.

Carnival


Carnival Hours:
Noon to 10 p.m.
Children With Special Needs Only Hours: 11 a.m. to noon.
Daily Discount: A $5 off wristband with coupon special runs from 1 to 5 p.m.
Carnival Rides Mega Pass: People can buy a pass for carnival rides that's good for every day the festival is open. The pass costs $75 at the festival.

Family Fun Day


Special family events run throughout the entire day.
  • Local Children's Groups Performances: Noon to 3 p.m.
  • Bean Bag Tournament: 2 p.m. Registration begins at 1 p.m.
  • Watermelon Eating Contest: 4 p.m.
  • Pie Eating Contest: 5 p.m.

Concerts


  • Cruise Machine (1960s music): 4 to 6 p.m.

  • Hairbangers Ball: 9 p.m. to midnight (Watch the band's video. Go to this page to see it.)

Food Vendors


The following is a list of restaurants working Oak Fest and some of the items they will have on sale. Each vendor will have a $2 item featured everyday.

  • Azteca Catering (Justice): Tacos and burritos
  • Bo's Concessions (Chicago): Funnel cakes, corn on the cob, burgers, cotton candy
  • Doug's Dogs (Oak Forest): Hot dogs, corn dogs, Italian beef
  • Espresso Express (Orland Park): Iced coffee, smoothies, hot chocolate
  • Icee: Frozen drinks and pretzels
  • Kenootz Pizza (Midlothian): Pizza, nachos and lemonade shake-ups
  • KnD Treats (Oak Forest): Deep-fried dishes, including mozzarella sticks, veggies, Twinkies, Oreos, candy bars, Pop Tarts and more.
  • La Isla Michoacana (Oak Forest): Ice cream, frozen chocolate-covered bananas
  • New China Express (Oak Lawn): Orange chicken, egg rolls, friend rice
  • Peppo's (Palos Hills and Tinley Park): Subs
