Get It While It's Cold: Closing Time Coming for Jack Frost

Labor Day marks the end of the ice cream season for Jack Frost Ice Cream Chalet, so make sure to head over and get your frozen treats while you can.

Sadly, it's that time of year. The warm weather of summer is fading into the cool temps of autumn—and that means it's time once again for to close its doors for the season. Jack Frost will close up following Monday's Labor Day holiday.

“We've been closing on Labor Day probably for the last 11 years,” said owner Peggy Wright. “It's just back to school, end of summer, it's just more or less a tradition.”

Wright said that this summer was a good season for Jack Frost.

“We definitely had ice cream weather this summer,” she said.

She added that with all of the staff at Jack Frost being either high school or college students, Labor Day is an appropriate time to close.

“All of our help is either in high school or college, so they get back to their schooling and activities, or they go away for school,” Wright said. “It's just more like a tradition that they work the summer, then they get back to their school and studies during the winter and then they look forward to opening back up in the spring.”

Jack Frost Ice Cream Chalet's last day open for the season will be Monday, Sept. 3, so get your scoops, shakes and other frozen treats while you can.
