Sports Video Highlight Reel: That's Funkhouser, with a Capital 'K'

Behind 13 strikeouts from junior Kyle Funkhouser, Oak Forest knocked off Tinley Park 7-4 in a recent South Suburban Conference baseball game.

Despite 13 strikeouts from junior pitcher Kyle Funkhouser and seven runs, the Oak Forest baseball team had to hold off a late rally to beat Tinley Park 7-4 when the two tangled recently in Tinley Park.

It didn't take long for the Bengals to grab the lead. They jumped on top of the Titans 3-0 in the top of the first inning as a result of defensive errors and smart base running. The Bengals tacked on another run in the third when first baseman Tom Livingston was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. In the fifth, Livingston belted a two-run homer to increase the lead to 7-0.

Funkhouser cruised through the first five innings. At one point, he struck out five straight Tinley batters. However, the Titans were able to bring in three unearned runs in the sixth as Funkhouser's pitch count stretched into the 90s. Reliever Nick Swanson came on in the seventh, but he allowed one run and left the bases loaded before coach Thad Gatton called on Arthur Johnson to get the final out.
