But even he would be hard-pressed to pick one bigger than he delivered in Oak Forest's 3-2 baseball victory over Joliet Catholic Academy in the championship game of the Class 3A Lincoln-Way West Sectional on Saturday.
Sheppard's seventh-inning double scored Tim Barry from first base in the bottom of the seventh inning and snapped a 2-2 deadlock as the Bengals roared one more time during a season when they've flashed their stripes on numerous occasions.

Sheppard's hitting heroics turned Kyle Funkhouser into the winning pitcher. Funkhouser struck out 11.
Oak Forest (25-7) moves on to face Chicago Jones at 4:30 p.m. on Monday in the supersectional at Standard Bank Stadium in Crestwood. Chicago Jones ousted Chicago Kenwood 5-4.
