On His Game: For Bengals, Griffin is Ace in the Hole

Last year, Oak Forest's Josh Griffin advanced to the IHSA boys golf state tournament as an individual. But, in his senior season, he wants his team to make the trip downstate, too.

With the IHSA boys golf regional championships coming up in two weeks, Oak Forest's Josh Griffin is picking a good time to play his best golf.

Griffin, a senior who plays in the No. 1 position for the Bengals, shot a personal-best 37 in a practice round on the front nine at George Dunne National Golf Course this week, and is preparing to start his run at a second straight trip to the IHSA state tournament.

"Josh Griffin is a full-blown golfer," Oak Forest coach Tom Vaughan said. "Being more seasoned, playing in more tournaments means that he's ready to handle those pressure situations."
