Oak Forest's Jeff Sprayberry Named to 'All-American Watch List'

Jeff Sprayberry has been pegged as a possible recipient of All-American honors.

Oak Forest High School senior Jeff Sprayberry has been tagged as one to watch for All-America honors.

The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Thursday announced the third annual Boys’ High School Senior All-America volleyball athlete Watch List for the 2013-14 season. Sprayberry is one of 141 players from 15 states, and 2 players from Puerto Rico.

Last season, the 6-foot-4 outside hitter notched 43 aces, 208 kills, 122 digs, and 14 blocks. Two games into the 2014 season, he tallies 13 aces, 23 kills, and 12 digs, according to Coach Lee Rucinski. In November, he verbally committed to King University in Bristol, Tenn.

The watch list serves as the starting point for the Boys’ High School Senior All-America selection process, according to a release from the organization. Sprayberry will wait until May to hear if he is one of 20 student-athletes named an All-American, with 10 players being selected to both a First-Team and Second-Team.
