Oak Forest's Funkhouser Named Athlete of Week
Hard-throwing Kyle Funkhouser goes six innings against Andrew to earn Bengals a big win.
Oak Forest junior pitcher Kyle Funkhouser was lights out last week against Andrew, so much so that he has been named Patch’s Athlete of the Week.
Funkhouser pitched six innings with eight strikeouts and no earned runs in Oak Forest’s 6-0 win.
“I got ahead in the count, which set up my offspeed (pitches),” Funkhouser said.

Funkhouser will be playing at Louisville next season. A big reason he decided to attend Louisville is because he’s excited to play for pitching coach Roger Williams. Also, he likes that Louisville is close enough where his family can stay involved in his career.
