Oak Forest Softball Builds on Winning Tradition
Coach says Bengals are overcoming some early inconsistency and rounding into form.
Oak Forest’s softball team is off to a strong start in hopes of keeping alive its winning tradition. Since 2005, the Bengals have been conference champions and regional champions every year. Since 2008, the Bengals have been sectional champions every year, and in 2009 they were state champions.
Oak Forest improved to 9-2 overall and 6-1 in the South Suburban Conference with a 6-1 win over Lemont on Tuesday.
“We are a little inconsistent right now but are showing signs of progress,” Oak Forest coach Paige Stryczek said in an email. “Our team goal is to get better every day.”

Girls Soccer Team Earns Praise from Coach
The Bengals’ girls soccer team is 2-3 on the season with a 2-2 record in the South Suburban Conference. The Bengals have been trying to overcome the loss of starting striker Abby Caprio, who had an ACL injury in Oak Forest’s first game of the season.
On Thursday, the Bengals lost 1-0 to Argo in penalty kicks. Coach Stacey Lane said her girls played fantastic against a strong Argo team, and Lane said she’s happy with the progress of her team.

“We’ve been progressing very, very well from the start of the season,” she said.
Boys Volleyball Team Topples Oak Lawn
Oak Forest’s boys volleyball team defeated Oak Lawn 23-25, 25-22, 25-14 on Thursday. The Bengals improved to 5-2 overall and 4-1 in the South Suburban Conference with the win. They are playing at the Warren Invite in Gurnee this weekend.

Oak Forest’s baseball team bounced back from by beating Oak Lawn 7-4 on Thursday. Kyle Linares had two hits and three RBIs as the Bengals improved to 4-2-1 overall and 2-1 in conference.
