Oak Forest Girls Tennis Continues Impressive Play on All Levels
Bengals bounced back with a big football victory, and the girls volleyball squad got two more conference wins.
The girls tennis team scored a pair of 3-2 victories over Hillcrest and Lincoln-Way West last week, continuing the hot play that has carried through most of the season.
Ashley Wiginton and Hailey Pickrum set the tone with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 singles spots against Hillcrest. Wiginton cruised to a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Hillcrest’s Mellaney Weeks. The doubles team of Carrie Mazzuca and Lauren Acevedo remained undefeated in conference by winning in the No. 2 doubles slot.
The Bengals followed up that victory with another win over Lincoln-Way West. Wiginton sealed the win with a victory at No. 1 singles in a third-set super tiebreaker.

The sophomore team also defeated both Hillcrest and Lincoln-Way West to improve to 10-2 overall (3-0 South Suburban Blue).
Football: Zale Returns in Oak Forest’s Bounce-Back Win
With the return of Tom Zale, Oak Forest got a much-needed victory after its crushing loss to Bremen two weeks ago.

Tevin Coleman, who injured his ankle against Bremen, had six carries for 164 yards and two scores in the Bengals’ 42-12 romp at T.F. North. Zale had two passing touchdowns, including one to Coleman for 59 yards.
Oak Forest improved to 4-1 on the season, 2-1 in the South Suburban Blue. The Bengals will host Argo (2-3) on Friday night.
Girls Golf: Bengals Sweep Three Matches
The Oak Forest girls golf team went 3-0 in dual matches last week, going undefeated against three nonconference opponents.
Sam Sandoval shot a 48 on nine holes at George Dunne to take home medalist honors in Oak Forest’s 199-227 victory over Lincoln-Way Central, while Coral Tucker’s 46 was the low round in Oak Forest’s 213-231 win over Queen of Peace.
The Bengals also defeated Lockport, 184-190.

In a crossover match, Oak Forest took care of Reavis in two tightly contested games, 25-23, 25-18. Gina Ryan led the Bengals with nine kills, while Autumn Seiler contributed eight kills. Kate Zickus dished out 19 assists in the win.
