Oak Forest Boys Tennis Team Seeing Doubles Success

The Bengals have a formidable 1-2 punch with their doubles teams.

The Oak Forest boys tennis team played two matches this week, defeating Tinley Park 3-2 on Wednesday, but losing 2-3 to Argo on Thursday. That put the Bengals’ season record at 3-5.

According to coach John Amoni, the team has been led by its doubles play. Jan Neri and Tim Renshaw make up the team’s No. 1 doubles team, and the duo has compiled a 6-1 record, including a 1-0 mark in the South Suburban Conference.

Fuad Haleem and Fabian Urh have taken ownership of No. 2 doubles and are 6-1 together, including a 1-0 record in conference. The tandem was the deciding factor in Oak Forest’s victory over Tinley Park on Wednesday, winning 7-6 (16-14 tiebreaker), 6-3.

Bengals Softball Sizzling

The Oak Forest softball team continued its winning ways on Thursday, defeating visiting T.F. South 4-0 behind Emily Norton’s 15-strikeout performance on the mound. Norton also drove in a run and scored a run. The Bengals (14-2) travel to T.F. North today.

Funkhouser Leads Baseball Victory

The Oak Forest baseball team is 8-3-1 on the season after a on Thursday. Junior pitcher Kyle Funkhouser continued his excellent season in the victory.

Byrdak Update

Oak Forest graduate Tim Byrdak has had a bit of a rough start to the season for the New York Mets. As of Friday afternoon, Byrdak, a relief pitcher, had a 9.00 ERA in five innings pitched. He had appeared in eight games this season.
