Marist High School Softball Coach to Step Down after 2014 Season

Denise Bromberek is currently ranked 5th in the IHSA for all-time in coaching victories, and is the fastest coach to reach 300 victories in the history of the state.

Marist High School softball coach, Denise Bromberek, has announced that she will step down at the end of the 2014 season.

Bromberek is the only coach in the program’s history, starting the program when the school went co-ed in 2002. In the 11 years since the program’s inception, Bromberek has an overall record of 307 wins and 107 losses.  Her teams have won four East Suburban Catholic Conference titles, 9 IHSA Regional Championships, 2 Sectional Championships, 1 Super Sectional Championship, and the 2012 IHSA Class 4A State Championship.

Bromberek is currently ranked 5th in the IHSA for all-time in coaching victories, and is the fastest coach to reach 300 victories in the history of the state. Her 2012 state championship is the first IHSA state championship for a Marist girls team.

“Coach Bromberek has been vital in putting Marist girls’ athletics on the map,” Marist Athletic Director Bob Lim said. “She has succeeded in establishing our softball program as one of the best in the state. Her commitment to excellence and to her student-athletes is what makes her a phenomenal coach and educator. Denise is also highly respected in the softball community, and a person like that is difficult to replace.  We wish her all the best. ”

“When we were looking to start the program 11 years ago, we knew Denise was the right fit,” said Marist Principal Larry Tucker.  “She has been such an asset to the Marist community, academically and athletically.  Her leadership has helped produce many outstanding young women over the years.  She will be missed.”  Bromberek plans to move with her family to Utah after the school year ends.

Marist High School is seeking candidates for the position of head varsity coach for the 2015 season. Qualified candidates will have softball playing and coaching experience, and possess a willingness to uphold the Marist mission and market Marist High School to grammar school aged student -athletes.  Proven program development and knowledge of youth and feeder programs is a plus.  Please e-mail cover letter, resume and a list of references to Bob Lim, Athletic Director, at lim.robert@marist.net by March 14.
