Let's Hear It for OF High School's Five Sports Team with High Marks!

Five Bengals teams show they as much students as they are athletes.

Oak Forest High School clearly has some outstanding student athletes.

Five varsity sports teams from the high school earned the Illinois High School Association Team Academic Achievement Award for 2011-12 spring season.

To accomplishment that, the teams had to achieve a grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a non-weighted 4.0 scale. That's quite a feat!

The teams who won the award: badminton team (3.45 GPA), baseball team (3.23 GPA),  girls’ soccer team (3.19 GPA), girls’ track & field team (3.02 GPA), and the boys’ volleyball team (3.25 GPA).

In April, three Bengals seniors signed commitment to college teams.

Jourdan Skirha committed to play softball at Drexel University. Katie Swanson signed up to play basketball at Elmhurst College and Jaclyn Hoffmeister intends to play soccer at Aurora University.

Kyle Funkhouser, a senior right-handed pitcher at Oak Forest, named the ESPNHS Gatorade Player of the Year for Illinois in May.
