It's Championship Day for Oak Forest Baseball, Softball

The Bengals are scheduled to compete in sectional championship games in both sports on Saturday.

Oak Forest’s softball and baseball teams are still going strong in the IHSA state playoffs, as each has advanced to sectional championship games that are scheduled to be played today.

On Wednesday, the Bengals baseball team defeated Rich Central in 9-4 the semifinals of the Lincoln-Way West Sectional behind a complete game from Kyle Linares.

Also on Wednesday, as Emily Norton struck out 11 batters in a row at one point.

Today, Oak Forest baseball plays Joliet Catholic Academy at 10 a.m. in the Lincoln-Way West Sectional championship game. Oak Forest softball plays Evergreen Park at 11 a.m. in the Oak Forest Sectional championship game.

Oak Forest Duo Falls at State

The Oak Forest doubles team of Tim Renshaw and Jan Neri played in the state tournament last weekend, losing in the first round of the championship bracket. The duo lost to Devin Jones and Luke Trinka of Oak Park-River Forest. Here’s the doubles bracket.

Bengals’ Coleman Excels at State Track Meet

The Oak Forest boys track and field team finished in a tie for 23rd place at last weekend’s state meet in Charleston. Tevin Coleman led the way with a second-place finish in the long jump and a fourth-place finish in the 100-meter dash. Meanwhile, Brandon Ivins placed 27th in the 3,200-meter run.
