High School Postseason HQ: Oak Forest Advances to Boys Tennis State Finals

In girls soccer, the Bengals lose a tight one to rival Tinley Park, 1-0, knocking the team out of the postseason.

It's postseason time for high school spring sports, and we want to keep you updated on the progress of our local student-athletes. Here's a quick and easy way to track the teams for Oak Forest, Andrew and Tinley Park high schools.

Tennis (Boys)

  • Oak Forest: The Bengals came in second in the Saturday, May 18, sectional at Stagg. Juniors Tom Dagenais and Matt Nadeau placed third in doubles competition.
  • Andrew: The team placed first in the Saturday, May 18, sectional at Homewood-Flossmoor. Seniors Kevin Karczynski and Brian Moy placed second and third, respectively, in singles competition. Andrew also had two doubles teams qualify. Sophomores Austin Wabi and Alan Wang placed third, and seniors Mark Sivak and Michael McGrath came in fourth. State final pairings have not been set.
  • Tinley Park: The school's team tied for sixth place at the sectional at Homewood-Flossmoor.

Tennis (Girls)

  • Andrew: The doubles pair of seniors Shari Coughlin and Alex Giesey advanced as far as the Thursday, May 16, second-round consolation match in the state finals at Mt. Prospect.
  • Tinley Park: Sophomore Haley Wilcox got as far as the first-round consolation match in the state finals.

Soccer (Girls)

  • Oak Forest: The Bengals lost to Tinley Park, 1-0, at home Friday, May 17, in their second regional game.
  • Andrew: The team captured the regional title, defeating Marist, 1-0, at that school's home field Saturday, May 18. The Thunderbolts now face Lincoln-Way North at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, at Andrew for the sectional title.
  • Tinley Park: The Titans defeated Oak Forest, 1-0, on its home field Friday, May 17, to advance to the sectional. The team now plays Marian at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, at Lincoln-Way West.

Track and Field (Girls)

Tinley Park: The team tied for 67th at the state final at East Illinois University.

Softball

  • Oak Forest: The No. 2-seeded Bengals are waiting to find out who they will face at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, in their first regional game on their home field.

  • Andrew: The No. 4-seeded Thunderbolts take on Homewood-Flossmoor at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, in their first regional game at Romeoville.
  • Tinley Park: The No. 1-seeded Titans are still waiting to find out who they will play at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, in their first regional game at Oak Forest.

Baseball

  • Oak Forest: The No. 4-seeded Bengals face No. 5-seeded Tinley Park at 4:30 p.m. Monday, May 20, in both teams' first regional game at Oak Forest. (This game is part of the Lemont regional.)
  • Andrew: The Thunderbolts are waiting to see who they will face in their first regional game at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, at Richards.
  • Tinley Park: The No. 5-seeded Titans take on No. 4-seeded Oak Forest at 4:30 p.m. Monday, May 20, at Oak Forest. (This game is part of the Lemont regional.)
