Gimme 5: Oak Forest's Sheppard Fielding College Offers

Bengals' baseball standout Bobby Sheppard will hear his offer from UIC this week. Then, he will decide whether to go to St. Xavier or UIC.

Oak Forest senior shortstop Bobby Sheppard has a big decision to make. On Thursday, UIC will make Sheppard an offer to play baseball, while St. Xavier has already offered him an 85-percent scholarship. Sheppard said he will weigh his options and should decide by the end of the season, probably only between those two schools.

Sheppard has reached the point where schools are offering him scholarships to play baseball through hard work and some genetics.

His father was a baseball player at Oak Forest (’78) while his sister, Amanda, plays softball at Northern Illinois University. Amanda was an all-state performer at Oak Forest and was part of the 2009 state championship team her senior year.
