Gimme 5: Oak Forest's Norton Heading to Radford

Bengals' senior pitching standout will leave with many awards and accomplishments tucked safely under her softball belt.

Oak Forest senior pitcher Emily Norton has piled up the awards and accomplishments over her career as a Bengal. Most prominent among those include being a state champion and the Illinois Gatorade Player of the Year in 2009.

“It was awesome," Norton said. "That doesn’t happen to a lot of people, so it was definitely an honor."

After leading her team this year, she will play at Radford University in Virginia. She is thinking she wants to study interior design, but still has options open.

Check out the latest Oak Forest Gimme 5, and also check out an interview she did with ESPN’s Sarah Spain.

Emily Norton will be the dominating factor of how the season goes for Oak Forest. She has the potential to be the greatest softball player in the state and the charisma to lead her team to another state title. As I follow along with how she does in the local newspapers I am always taken aback by what an amazing athlete this young lady has turned out to be. Keep playing hard and leading your team in the right direction Emily, it will pay off.
