Football: Turnovers End Oak Forest's Hopes of Undefeated Season

Two fourth-quarter turnovers from Oak Forest propelled Bremen's comeback from down 13-0, and the Braves won it in overtime, 20-13.

Breaking It Down: Oak Forest’s defense made its presence felt for three quarters, holding Bremen scoreless and helping the Bengals to a 13-0 lead in Friday night's South Suburban Blue football game. But two fourth-quarter fumbles from and a renewed Bremen running attack allowed the Braves to score 20 unanswered points in the fourth quarter and overtime to walk away with an improbable 20-13 victory in Oak Forest.

Special teams miscues hurt the Bengals throughout the contest. Oak Forest had two field goal attempts and one extra point blocked during regulation. Injuries didn’t help their cause as quarterback Tom Zale sat because of illness and Tevin Coleman came off limping during the third quarter and was limited late in the game.

Patch’s MVP: Cedric Clemons, Bremen. David Smith may get most of the publicity for Bremen, but it was Clemons who provided the heroics on Friday night at Oak Forest. Clemons didn’t have the greatest first half, getting sacked twice and completing only two passes, but he rallied Bremen when the Braves needed it, running for a 19-yard score with 19 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 13-13.
