Athlete of the Week: Oak Forest's Richard Thriving as Freshman

Oak Forest right fielder and pitcher Brian Richard is only a freshman. Yet, he’s playing at the varsity level—and playing very well.
, how Oak Forest seniors Bobby Sheppard and Tim Barry have helped his development. Following last Thursday, Richard said he has grown even more comfortable in his role on the varsity squad.
“All around, just everything’s better,” Richard said of the last few weeks. “Except for the weather; the weather’s terrible.”

In the win against Reavis, Richard was 2-for-2 with 2 RBIs, including a sacrifice fly in the third inning that gave Oak Forest a 1-0 lead, and a two-out RBI double in the fifth that gave the Bengals a 2-0 lead.
In recognition of his performance and his growth as a player, Richard is Patch’s Athlete of the Week.
